"I have traveled to many places tasting many sushi restaurants. This one in Ibagué is very tasty and surprising. What I really like the most about Sakana is the Colombian and Japanese fusion it brings to the table. The natural “Yerba buena” mint lemonade is a very refreshing way to start your meal. Then the gyoza is a great starter and the sweet and spicy sauce creates an explosion of flavor from the first bite. The tuna tataki is also an excellent way to start your meal. The sesame seed coating is spread perfectly and the seaweed tobiko mix mixes well with the pallet. The quality of the fish really comes through here. Being inland some places can lose quality because of the transport, but Sakana’s care for quality shows in every dish. I mostly ordered tempura rolls since I was taking my partner who didn’t have previous great experiences with sushi and dislikes raw food, yet this restaurant made her change her mind about sushi over all with their tempura cooked selections. The raw rolls I ordered like the unagi roll were a great way to break her aversion to raw fish, which is a great way to start someone on a sushi adventure who dislikes raw food. I also ordered a bowl of Ramen for my nephew and he loved the flavors of the pork and fish. Something else to note, he dislikes fish. Sakana is a great place to change someone’s perspective on sushi. The staff is very friendly and truly cares about the customer experience, my partner needed help with holding the chopsticks and they provided chopstick helpers to make her experience very amazing. Overall if you find your self on Ibagué and you are craving sushi, this place is a must."
